CompTIA, the leading provider of vendor-neutral skills certifications for the world of information technology (IT) workforce, has introduced a new version of CompTIA Security +.
The new exam (SY0-401) is available immediately worldwide in an English version. Test of German and Japanese will be introduced in the coming months.
"This update reflects the changes and challenges faced by IT professionals in the field of computer security," executive vice president of skills certification and training, CompTIA.
Notable updates in the exam include:
- Expansion of common protocols and services.
- More content devoted to risk, including risk due to systems integration with third parties and how to plan for it.
- New emphasis on mobile security and BYOD.
- Risk mitigation in static environments including SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) and Android/iOS.
- Expanded and elevated (scenario based) authentication, authorization and access control, including federation.
It encourages certification candidates currently preparing for the preliminary version of CompTIA Security + exam (SY0-301) to continue preparing for the SY0-301 exam. This test will be available in its English version until December 31, 2014. Tests in other languages will retire April 30, 2015.
Demand for IT Security Workers
The demand for IT security professionals qualified certificates and shows no signs of abating. In a category of work alone - information security analysts - the number of job openings increased by 32 percent from Q4 2013 Q1 2014, according to Labor Burning Glass Technologies Insights.CompTIA Security + is widely recognized in the IT industry and throughout the world as a certification that designates experienced professionals in the field of information security. More than 284,000 people have obtained the CompTIA Security + certification.
CompTIA Security + is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to demonstrate compliance with the standard ISO 17024:2012. The certification is also approved by the Department of Defense to meet the requirements of technical certification and warranty information management.
Training Materials Available
The CompTIA Security + Study Guide CompTIA Authorized Partner Wiley is now available through the CompTIA Marketplace.In addition, CompTIA Authorized Partner McGraw-Hill materials approved training through the program of quality content CompTIA approved. These materials will be available on CompTIA Marketplace shortly.
