
International Technology Adoption Association and the Workforce Trends Study are countries around the world are projecting sharp increases in IT spending in the next 12 months, with 23 percent expected to report a 10 percent or more increase of that expenditure.
Globally, India led the way for the biggest gains, with an estimated 6.9 percent increase in IT spending on average in 2015. Brazil (6.8 percent), Malaysia (6, 7 percent), Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (all 6.6 percent) and South Africa (6.5) Emirates completed the biggest spenders. Meanwhile, expenditures in North America fell a little short of those figures, with US companies averaged 5.4 percent increase for 2015 and 5.3 per cent of Canadian companies.
"Companies increasingly classified as a critical factor for success," said Tim Herbert, vice president of research and market intelligence, CompTIA. "They see technology as the main contributor to its ability to meet the key strategic priorities, if it is to reach new customers, control costs, improve productivity and become more innovative."
The study also found an early accompanying increase in IT procurement, with increasing demand for professionals with appropriate training and experience. "There is no quick solution to address the lack of capabilities," said Amy Carrado, director, research and market intelligence, CompTIA. "Building and maintaining talent requires a concerted effort, resources and time."
The study found that 48 percent of IT companies anticipate hiring during 2015, with the strongest estimates that come from large organizations (57 percent) and in countries with mature economy (63 percent) .
Of course, innovation also offers challenges along with opportunities, and only 15 percent of companies surveyed said they were where they wanted to be with the use of technology. An additional 41 percent said they were "close", but that still leaves a large percentage of companies that could use help with their goals of using technology.
