CompTIA Premier Members Get Free Security Training

CompTIA is offering its Premier Members access to free cybersecurity training to help address the need for greater security awareness among IT workers.

Beginning immediately, all CompTIA Premier Members are eligible to receive 50 free seats for CompTIA CyberSecure, a self-paced online course that familiarizes users with a host of cybersecurity best practices to protect their business, according to the announcement. CompTIA Senior Vice President of Industry Relations Nancy Hammervik said the offering is meant to give members the information needed to protect critical assets for both themselves

and their customers.
“We’re equipping our Premier Members with the curriculum and training required to plug the biggest hole in an organization’s security readiness – employees’ behavior,” she said, in a statement.

Recent research shows human error is often one of the largest factors in workplace security breaches, especially as employees begin to utilize mobile technology in the office, according to CompTIA. In fact, the company released the results of a study last year, which found that 45 percent of U.S. workers receive no form of cybersecurity training at all from their employers.

Premier Members can choose use the free seats for their own employees or give them to customers. CompTIA said members who are interested in obtaining their free training should contact their member representative or email cybersecure@comptia.org for more information.

Additional seats for organizations with more than 50 employees can be purchased separately.
“The risks are too high and the threats too numerous for organizations to ignore the need for top to bottom security training,” says Kelly Ricker, senior vice president of Events and Education at CompTIA.

“The lessons delivered with CompTIA CyberSecure are relevant to workers in any setting, whether it’s a small business, a mid-sized company or a large enterprise; in the public or private sector.”
